Vibration Isolation Using Neoprene Fabric
DOWNLOAD PDF REPORT
The goal of this project was to evaluate the vibration isolation properties of neoprene fabric to reduce the transmission of vibrational energy from earthmoving machines through laboratory and field tests. The primary objective was to design and determine the optimal thickness of neoprene fabric necessary to meet the Vibration Dose Value (VDV) criterion for an 8-hour daily exposure action value of 2.5 m/s². Through measurements involving excavators and controlled shaker experiments, vibration data were collected using accelerometers and data acquisition devices. Measurements were taken both with and without neoprene fabric to evaluate the performance of neoprene fabric across varying thicknesses. The study confirmed that neoprene fabric significantly reduces transmitted vibration levels and data analysis led to a recommendation for an optimal neoprene thickness to achieve compliance with health and safety guidelines.
